In a repositioning of key personnel, Ahold USA announced on July 17, that two executive vice presidents will be assuming new roles at the Carlisle, PA based retailer.
Bhavdeep Singh, EVP-operations has been named to take on a new role as EVP-new formats, and that Ahold USA EVP-merchandising Mark McGowan will be transitioning into Singh’s former job as EVP-operations. With his new role, Singh is in the process of selecting a team who will work with him to develop and test different format opportunities.
Singh has more than 25 years of experience in the retail industry, including his time as Ahold USA EVP-operations and previously as EVP-human resources. Prior to his time at Ahold USA, Singh held leadership positions in retail organizations that operated a variety of formats, including India’s Reliance Fresh and The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P). He also held the position of CEO of Fortis Healthcare, located in India. Singh will continue to serve as a member of the executive board at AUSA. He will continue to report Ahold US COO James McCann.
McGowan has more than 23 years of experience with Ahold USA companies and has spent much of that time in store operations. He started as an assistant store manager at Stop & Shop in New England and worked his way up through the organization, holding a number of roles in operations including president of the Stop & Shop New England division and later Ahold USA EVP-supply chain. A search will be initiated to identify McGowan’s replacement in merchandising. The retailer said McGowan will continue in his present role until a replacement has been found and appointed.
