Ahold USA announced on November 1 that Gordon Reid will join the Giant/Landover division as president. Reid replaces Bhavdeep Singh, executive vice president, operations, Ahold USA, who has served as interim president since September 2013. Singh continues to serve as executive vice president, operations, Ahold USA. Singh temporarily replaced Anthony Hucker, who resigned his post as Giant/Landover president in September.
Reid will manage all aspects of the division with responsibility for sales, operating profits, organization, and associates.
With more than 30 years of retail experience, Reid most recently served as group director for commercial services for Dairy Farm International, a leading pan-Asian retailer that operates more than 5,600 retail outlets throughout Asia. While with Dairy Farm International, Reid created and delivered on the growth strategy for China and Taiwan, with direct P&L responsibility across three formats. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions of progressive responsibility at Dairy Farm International and other large retailers, including Boots the Chemists, where he led retail and pharmacy operations and with Tesco PLC. At Tesco, he held international leadership roles in operations including director, small format in Central Europe; operations director, Hungary; senior Tesco executive, India; and executive vice president east region, China.

A native of Scotland, Reid earned his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh and his MBA from the University of Nottingham.
The division, headquartered in Landover, MD, operates 169 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. The division employs approximately 20,000 associates. Included within the 169 stores are 155 full-service pharmacies.
